CBD-infused products are quickly expanding past the traditional Hemp gummies and Hemp oils. Customers can find an assortment of Hemp baked goods, drinks and even Carl’s Jr. cheeseburgers infused with CBD. On the European continent, a French butcher has been selling what’s known as “chipolata-style” sausages that are infused with Hemp in Marseille, France. The young entrepreneur, Luca Morand, is making a killing on the $24 per pound sausages and while he may be the first seller in France, he’s not the first to infuse meat with CBD. The Brat House in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is serving up a CBD-infused bratwurst with a spicy and sweet habanero salsa drizzled on top. It’s served with CBD-infused sauerkraut and an optional CBD-mustard on top.
Head Chef, Craig Mastalir, explained, “...this is what comfort food should be...it makes me feel good because of the local connection between the Brat House, the meat market, and the hemp farm, and gives me balance and energy because…ya know, the CBD."
On the West Coast, the New Seasons Market in Portland, Oregon, whipped up another version of the cannabinoid-infused meat. Rather than adding the Hemp to the links, it’s made with a CBD-infused ale from Coalition Brewing, also in Portland. (If you’d rather just try the IPA, that’s available, too.) For the April 20, 2019 celebrations in Colorado, Carl’s Jr. served cheeseburgers with CBD-infused toppings at one location in April. The Rocky Mountain High is two beef patties covered in pepper jack cheese and topped with pickled jalapenos and waffle-cut fries with a CBD-infused Santa Fe sauce.
The 4/20 experiment was a success—The store’s district manager told Leafly they had 30 people waiting in line before they even opened at 6 a.m. It’s no wonder the store sold all 1,000 burgers by 4 pm that day. Sadly, (if cheeseburgers are on your diet) it was a one-day-only, so you’ll have to wait until next year to give the zesty cheeseburger a try. One customer Leafly spoke with gave his review of the new creation, “awesome...very subtle hint of earth. Overall a decent, solid burger.”
What’s even more? It’s not just pork and beef products. A restaurant out in Virginia has been serving up chicken wings infused with Hemp by the basket, which is surely one of the stars of their menu now that football season has begun - if you want a burger, that’s on the menu as well. The owner of the popular Bull and Bones’ dining location also operates a hemp farm. You should still look for a third party lab’s certificate of analysis on every Hemp product though.
Additionally, all the Hemp oil goes through rigorous testing first at the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center, before it’s served at the restaurant. With all the CBD-infused services, such as prepared foods, drinks, and even massage therapy, hitting the market, it’s essential to know where they are sourced from and the extraction process. If you can’t find this information, consider passing until you know every product is safe. In the meantime, a pure unflavored Hemp 1000mg tincture of Sugar and Kush Hemp oil is all you need to infuse your very own food at home.
