Will Hemp Make Me Fail a Drug Test?

Will Hemp Make Me Fail a Drug Test?

A question that comes up frequently with Hemp oil is, “will I fail a drug test if I use CBD?” The easy answer is no, you should not fail a drug test if you are consuming pure Hemp isolate oil containing no THC. Unfortunately, life is never easy, so there are some things to take into consideration before you buy Hemp oil, especially if you might go through a drug screening.

Look for a third party lab test to checkout the Hemp purity of a product and if there is any THC which could cause you to fail a drug test.

Hemp oil can be made from both cannabis and hemp. Hemp based Hemp oil is unlikely to result in a positive test because it rarely contains enough THC for detection during a drug screen, but you never know. Hemp is differentiated from the drug-type cannabis by having less than 0.3% THC content, which is a minimal amount of THC that may not even come up in a test. If you are at all concerned, then you should check your Hemp product for a third party lab’s certificate of analysis which should confirm how much THC there is in the bottle. It could show that there is no THC at all which likely means that the oil has been made with a Hemp isolate.

Due to the lack of regulation for Hemp products, there are no standardized doses recommended for effectiveness. Some brands recommend higher doses than others. Again, because hemp-derived Hemp products aren’t FDA regulated, much of what you see in stores or even online can be unreliable. As a result of varying dose recommendations and uncertain THC levels, consuming Hemp gummies may be yummy, but comes with risks.

There very well might be some THC in your Hemp oil. You might think, “Well, so what?” It’s true that a trace amount of THC will not get you high, but it could still result in a positive drug test. The federal government has deemed hemp plants with a THC level of .3% or less, on a dry weight basis, are legal. They obviously accept that small amounts of THC are ok, but that does not mean that your employer does. It is essential that when you shop for Hemp oil, you look for signs that there may be THC present in the oil. Beware of any oil labeled full spectrum Hemp oil.

A full spectrum Hemp product means that it is not made from an isolate. It includes a full suite of cannabinoids, including some THC. So, if we need more regulation and companies aren’t always honest, how does someone new to Hemp minimize their risk when choosing a Hemp product? Start with research. Make sure you look into any company you are considering buying Hemp products from by reading Hemp oil reviews, and other key factors that tell you that the company is legitimate.

Look for information about product processing techniques and if there is any possibility of cross-contamination. A quality brand will disclose where the source hemp comes from, what method of extraction is used to produce the CBD, whether or not an independent lab tests the Hemp for purity, authenticity and for any possible contaminants. While you can never be 100% sure, these are the best safeguards to ensure you have a quality product and to protect you against that drug screen.

Sugar and Kush uses the highest quality hemp, the most up-to-date standards of extraction, and independent lab testing with ISO 17025 certification to ensure all of our products are exactly what we say they are. If you are looking for quality Hemp products you can trust, your search is over.
