Hemp Oil and Palliative Care Patients

Hemp Oil and Palliative Care Patients

We hear a great deal of anecdotal evidence supporting the benefits of CBD, and perhaps the opinions that leave the biggest impression come from patients under palliative care. There is no arguing that more research on Hemp being used in medical applications is necessary, especially for medical professionals that depend on peer reviewed studies and in-depth research to make critical decisions.

Unproven Medical Claims

Without more research on CBD, doctors still mush consider that the benefits of Hemp their patients are claiming to experience may come from nothing other than the placebo effect.

Consider the claims that have not been verified by the medical community on how Hemp tinctures are helping people. Doctors know so little about the effects of Hemp that medical professionals must also take into account that what their patients are experiencing may be nothing more than the placebo effect.

A common theory is that older generations may benefit the most from pure Hemp products if these claims hold true. It is our grandparents that struggle with arthritis and many of the other conditions that Hemp is supposed to be so helpful with. Dr. Katie Johnson is a palliative care physician in Maryland that has her patients asking about Hemp oil regularly. She recently took the time to do some further research and write about her overall impression of Hemp so far.

    From Dr. Katie Johnson

Rosemary Mazanet, MD, PhD, an oncologist and chief scientist at Columbia Care, which provides medical cannabis products in 13 states including Delaware, said, “Even if it’s placebo, if people think it’s working for them, that’s good because people take so many benzodiazepenes, which can be addictive over periods of time.”

The best recommendation is to talk to your medical care provider and to your family. If you decide to try Hemp oil, be sure to get a quality product (not something from the gas station) and start with a lower dose to see what effect it might have on your body. You can slowly build up to see if you find improvement in your condition.

    Making Hemp Fun

A person in palliative care has the symptoms a Hemp tincture supposedly can help. Even if it is only the placebo effect, if a patient feels more comfortable then why not explore the possibilities? Bubble gum CBD, cotton candy CBD, strawberry Hemp and other delicious flavors of Hemp oil may also help lift a person's spirit. Laura Brenner, a cancer survivor and one of the founders of Sugar and Kush Hemp products, wanted something that did not seem bland when she was going through her treatment.

    Hemp Dosing

It is very important that people determine the right Hemp dosage for themselves. There is plenty of Hemp for sale out on the market now, but manyHempD products are poorly made with inaccurate labeling. Make sure to look for Hemp lab testing for any product you are thinking about buying. You should be able to easily find Hemp 3000mg, Hemp 1000mg and Hemp 500mg bottles of tinctures or oils. Use the 1 ml dropper and journal your Hemp doses to find the right amount for you.
