Fighting the Opioid Addiction

Fighting the Opioid Addiction

We often hear the phrase “no one is perfect,” and usually when we do, we roll our eyes and continue obsessing over a mistake we made or goal we didn’t accomplish. The reality is though, no one is perfect, we all make mistakes and we all have vices. For some the vice may be trips to the bakery, for others it may be alcohol or cigarettes.

In our constant pursuit of perfection, or maybe the pressure to solve our lack of motivation, bad habits can form. The things that hold us back vary from person to person, but often the solutions to those problems are much more similar than they would seem. Often the solution revolves around having an honest conversation with ourselves and recognizing that we as individuals often get in our own way.

Some vices for people are much darker and need much more than a stern conversation with one’s self to fix. Opioid addiction has swept the country and has impacted countless lives. People everyday are overdosing and dying from drug abuse. If they aren’t dying, their lives are often in ruins between destroyed relationships and possible criminal prosecution.

The list of CBD benefits continues to grow to now include its ability to combat addiction relapses.

While tackling drug addiction is never easy, especially when opioids are involved there may be a better solution on the horizon.  Dr. Yasmin Hurd is a top mind on addiction worldwide out of Mount Sinai in New York trying to find a solution.

While additional research will be required, her findings are promising on multiple levels. Anything that can be done to combat the scourge of opioid addiction and does not put people in harm's way must be an option for recovery. In most instances when people are prescribed opioids it is because of pain from an injury or illness.
